In the early 20th century Scottish landowner and politician Sir John Tollemache Sinclair acquired the land at 143-144 Fleet Street and in 1905 commissioned architect Richard Mauleverer Roe to design a Neo-Gothic office.

National Museum of Scotland
Edinburgh’s National Museum of Scotland was the one museum that I definitely wanted to make sure we visited on our trip.
Edinburgh Castle
Edinburgh Castle is an impressively large fortress that sits above the city on Castle Rock. There’s been a royal castle on the site since at least the 12th century, with it continuing to be a royal residence until 1633.
Hardwick Hall
I’ve been to Hardwick Hall before, to visit the gardens and take in one of the walks around the grounds, but on this occasion we went into the hall itself. Bess of Hardwick created the hall in the 1500s and it was renowned for being more glass than wall, making it at the time a very expensive proposition.
