Throwback Thursday: The Bazel Building, Amsterdam

This impressive building is named for its architect Karel de Bazel, designed in the Brick Expressionism style and was built between 1919 and 1926. It is ten stories high and 100 metres wide.

Originally built as the headquarters for the Netherlands Trading Society it now houses the Amsterdam City Archives. [I took these photos on my way to somewhere else so didn’t have time to go inside, but if I’m ever back in Amsterdam I’ll certainly explore the permanent exhibitions – the Treasure Room in particular looks very impressive].
