Deganwy, Wales

I didn’t spend a lot of time in Deganwy, in fact I wasn’t even intending to visit it at all, I just walked along Llandudno’s West Shore Beach and kept on going until I’d reached the town.

West Shore Beach and Wales Coast Path, Llandudno

Personally I think that Llandudno’s West Shore is the best beach in the town. I don’t know what its like at the height of summer but whenever I’ve been it’s been quiet, well maintained and very peaceful. On this trip I ended up walking the length of the beach, carrying on through the Wales Coast Path and then on to Deganwy, a nearby town which will feature in the next post.

Llandudno Promenade

Llandudno’s promenade is approximately two miles long and is a great place for a walk with historic buildings and hotels on one side and the sea and the sands on the other. I’d walked part of the promenade along the North Shore nearest the Pier on a previous trip but this time I also walked to near the end of the promenade as I went to visit a farm nearby (more of which next time).

Llandudno, Wales

After I booked my trip to Conwy due to several factors including train strikes being on and off again because of the Queen’s funeral I ended up extending my stay in Wales in order to avoid the worst of the travel chaos. I had considered going somewhere new but since I was booking so close to when I was travelling I wasn’t left with a lot of reasonably priced options so I decided to go back to Llandudno which benefited from being a place I really like and an easy half hour bus journey from Conwy.

Huttoft, Lincolnshire

Please note photos have been removed due to lack of hosting space.

I seem to have made quite a few trips to the beach this year. The most recent excursion was to Huttoft in Lincolnshire. We used to come here a fair bit when I was a child and what I remembered most were the concrete ramps down to the beach. These have evidently been done away with and the beach is now level with the free car park, making it much easier to access. There was some mist rolling across the beach when we arrived but it soon brightened up and the sea was lovely and warm. Not too busy or overcrowded it’s still as lovely a place to visit now as when I was a child.

Llandudno’s West Shore

Please note that photos have been removed due to lack of hosting space.

Llandudno’s West Shore beach is renowned for being quieter than the North Shore and we certainly found that to be true on our visit.

Colwyn Bay Beach

Please note photographs have been removed due to lack of hosting space.

On one of our days in Wales we stopped off for a walk along the beach at Colwyn Bay. The beach, which stretches for over three miles was very clean and even though it was a sunny afternoon we still had the place mostly to ourselves.

Alnmouth is a village in Northumberland located at the mouth of the River Aln that was established in around 1152 and is notable for its lovely beach which we stopped off to explore after our visit to Alnwick Castle.

Bamburgh Dunes

Please note photos have been removed due to lack of hosting space.

The Bamburgh Dunes sit below Bamburgh Castle and we took one of the routes down to the beach from the castle’s car park – which proved to be rather a steep endeavour!
