Bamburgh Dunes

The Bamburgh Dunes sit below Bamburgh Castle and we took one of the routes down to the beach from the castle’s car park – which proved to be rather a steep endeavour!

Late September might seem like an odd time for a walk along the beach but we were lucky enough to experience some glorious sunshine, even if the water – which I only dipped my fingers in! – was quite cold.

The dunes have been a Site of Special Scientific Interest since 1995 and are part of the North Northumberland Dunes Special Area of Conservation.

The dunes also, of course, allow for some stunning views of Bamburgh Castle.

Definitely worth a visit with the castle, you can find more photos here.
