Norfolk Gardens, Paddington, London

On my last trip to London I again stayed in the Paddington area. A few minutes walk from Paddington Station is this long rectangular garden that was built over a former waterworks of the Grand Union Canal and was developed during the Victorian era.

The reason I stopped for a quick visit is because of the Paddington Bear connection. What I wasn’t expecting was that Paddington would be surrounded by paparazzi.

This Paddington is part of the Paddington Trail of artwork around the area; he’s nestled in among banana trees from Peru. The paparazzi dogs are by Gillie and Marc and are a commentary on the pack mentality of the paparazzi following celebs around. Hopefully Paddington can disarm them with kindness, or else let loose his famous stare.

This is a new London spot to me, added to the list. Love finding all the little green spaces in London when time allows. Paddington always a welcome bonus! Find the dog statues a touch unnerving, but I guess that’s rather the point.
