Burton Joyce Open Gardens, June

Back in the beginning of June I went along to the Open Gardens event in Burton Joyce, a village just outside Nottingham. I’m fairly familiar with the village as a friend grew up there but I’d never been to the Open Gardens event before. 11 gardens were open to the public with the ticket price (£6 if booked in advance) going towards Maggie’s, a cancer charity based at Nottingham City Hospital.

I only managed 8 of the gardenes – the event was quite spread out and there’s only one bus an hour on a Sunday so I didn’t want to be out too long.

The gardens were all lovely with various amounts of flowers in bloom, some great ponds and even a tortoise and chickens (seperate gardens). It was a very nice well organised event and far busier than I had expected – practically evenyone I passed had a map on hand plotting their routes around the garden.

A lovely event and worth supporting for a good cause.

What a lovely way to spend a day and a great idea for a fundraiser.
