Personally I think that Llandudno’s West Shore is the best beach in the town. I don’t know what its like at the height of summer but whenever I’ve been it’s been quiet, well maintained and very peaceful. On this trip I ended up walking the length of the beach, carrying on through the Wales Coast Path and then on to Deganwy, a nearby town which will feature in the next post.

At low tide the beach has beautiful golden sands and views out towards Conwy and Anglesey. I walked there from my hotel near Llandudno’s North Shore but there is a car park right next to the beach if you’re driving. The beach is dog friendly – though not the whole beach so pay attention to the relevant signs if you’re bringing a four legged friend along.

There are some concrete paths to the left of here but I chose to walk along the beach and through the dunes.

It’s another good place to get a view of the Great Orme and there’s a cafe not too far away if you want to take a breather. Also worth noting if you fancy a swim – there’s no lifeguard at the beach.

I didn’t really notice the point where the beach became the Wales Coast Path though it was probably around here.

It was only on the return journey when I decided to move up from the dunes that I spotted the signs.

This area was much more path like and therefore slightly easier to navigate.

But do watch out for flying golf balls! I could hear some people playing golf but thankfully didn’t have to put this advice into practice.

Once back from Deganwy I walked once more along the beach towards the Great Orme, but chose to get off the beach for a bit.

At the right side of the beach nearest the Orme is this boating lake, which at the time of my visit was being utilised by the local wildlife.

From here I headed up through the Great Orme, but more of that next time. You can find more photos of the beach here.
