On my birthday in May (yes, I’m that behind again!) I’d decided that I’d like to make a return trip to Longleat Safari Park in Wiltshire. It had been at least a decade since I was there last and in that time the Park has undergone a lot of improvements, including the acquisition of some cheetahs, which are one of my favourite animals.
Longleat is a combination of a drive-through Safari and walk through areas, allowing you to get quite close to over 100 species of animal. It opened in 1966 and was the first drive-through Safari Park outside Africa. Below is a selection of those mainly to be found in the Safari area:
Fom the Safari Park we moved to the Jungle Kingdom area of the Park (which included surprise dinosaurs!) and Longleat House itself; these two areas will be the focus of the next two posts.
