Swanbourne Lake, Arundel

On my way to and from Arundel Wetland Centre I passed by Swanbourne Lake. I decided to pop in for a look on the way back but knew I wouldn’t have very long to explore as it was already quite late in the afternoon.

You can hire boats for a small fee or walk around the lake itself and up through Arundel Park.

The lake actually started as a millpond before being enlarged to form a lake in the late 18th century.

There is also a tearoom on site in a lovely Grade II listed building. I didn’t go in as I’d had a late lunch but it was certainly doing brisk business. It’s open all year round and even sells dog biscuits and ice cream for your four footed friends. You can sit in or take away.

A very nice spot and if I’m ever back in Arundel I’ll certainly explore here in more detail.

And so ends my posts on Arundel! Up next, Bath.

A lovely spot. So nice that they sell treats for dogs too, I’m an absolute sucker for that sort of thing!
