Over the years Bath Christmas Market has become a staple of mine and my friend’s annual Christmas outing. The atmosphere is always lovely and the stalls are genuinely full of beautiful unique products from local sellers. The centre of Bath is really taken over by the market but it’s also worth going into the brick and mortar shops as well because Bath is well known for its independent shops. Everywhere seems to get into the spirit with lovely decorations wherever you look.

We ate lunch at The Salamander where we’ve eaten on a previous occasion and it was excellent again and very accomodating of my friend’s food allergen issues.

This year we decided to stay over in Bath one night in order to do the Roman Baths however we were travelling when Storm Darragh was approaching and that evening got the (extremely loud!) emergency alert on our phones that the storm was going to cause significant disruption and decided to head home the next morning rather than do the Baths and leave at lunch time as had been our plan. (The Baths are letting us use our tickets next year so expect a post about that sometime in the spring). The hotel we stayed at however was great – Bailbrook House Hotel just outside Bath city centre – all decked out for Christmas and very comfortable. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was excellent, had a drink in the bar and had a fabulous breakfast the next morning so we were very satisfied even if we ultimately cut our trip a bit short.

Looks wonderful!Merry Christmas!
